Ecohaven Receives 2021 Golden Trezzini Special Mention Award
About Golden Trezzini Special Mention Award
Our Bislig Bayfront project in Surigao del Sur was awarded the 2021 Golden Trezzini Special Mention Award for Best Landscape Architecture Project, as announced on their website.
The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design aim to turn the most artistic projects into museum objects to keep their historical, cultural, and scientific values in the best way possible, as mentioned on their website.

Golden Trezzini Special Mention Award
The Awards motto, “Architecture as Art,” heavily implies the process of creation, not the destruction, of art. It has also recently expressed its support for Ukraine, stating on a Facebook post, “We stand for peace in Ukraine and hope that common sense will prevail. In dark times it’s so hard to talk but it’s even harder to stay silent. Despite everything that divides us we are going to continue our talk about architecture with people from different countries, simply not to forget the importance of feeling compassionate, being emotional, and hoping for a better future for all.”
The committee received 1,031 project entries from 97 countries—a third more from last year. The winners were announced and awarded on November 15, 2021, at the State Hermitage, St. Petersburg, Russia.
Indeed, a proud moment for Ecohaven and the entire local architecture community as it is the lone awardee from the Philippines.

Ecohaven’s Bislig Bayfront Project
Ecohaven’s Bislig Bayfront project will become Surigao del Sur’s forefront of sustainable and cultural design–it is landscape architecture at its finest.
It will not only upgrade Bislig City’s identity and tourism as its first public open space (8,500 sqm.) and world-class tourist destination, but it will also make its city a better and greener place to live in.
Inspired by Bislig City’s Karawasan Festival which features dancing crabs, the design showcases movement and versatility in its landscape design and innovative amenities.
Our founder, Landscape Architect Don Patrick Manlangit, recently shared in an interview how parks are essential elements in every city. “The development of the urban park has had a huge impact in the area, especially now during the pandemic. People need exercise and breathing spaces.”

We are deeply grateful to the entire Golden Trezzini committee for this recognition.
It’s an honor not only for Ecohaven and Surigao del Sur, but for every Filipino.
It’s a proud moment for all of us that you recognized Filipinos’ artistry and intentionality through this project.
Maraming salamat po!
