Surrounded by the majestic Bislig Bay, the Bislig Bayfront will become the first public open space in the City of Bislig’s downtown area. The waterfront development is situated near the city center of Barangay Mangagoy, a center of trade and industry in Bislig. The existing site overlooking the bay provides potential waterfront opportunities.
This bayfront intends to extend the City’s downtown to the bay’s edge as it provides a green public space to the surrounding residential and commercial areas. The overall design considers the proposed reclamation expansion of the bay area while integrating innovative leisure and recreation amenities suitable to the surrounding landscape.
Users are welcomed by the entry accent dry deck fountain connected to the entry vine trellis that leads to the grand lawn and platform deck, a dynamic space for outdoor activities, events, and performances. The bayfront’s dry fountain embedded in the entryway’s central area allows for flexibility as the space may be transformed depending on its intended use. Between the grand lawn and Bislig Bay, users may stroll through the tree-lined walkways paved with distinct patterns and colors as inspired by the crab-like dance of the Karawasan Festival. Road access surrounding the site have also been transformed into tree-lined walkways integrated with protected bike lanes to promote pedestrianization.
The site promotes outdoor play and other activities with its integrated play areas, outdoor fitness areas, and skate park. Passive areas such as shaded seating, outdoor dining, and an edible garden for the community are also integrated in the design. The design also features an overlooking viewing deck, providing the public with many opportunities to sit and enjoy views to the bay and bayfront.
The site aims to revitalize the idle waterfront space of the city and transform the area into a world-class tourism destination that is easily accessible to the city center.
