The Iriga City Park is Iriga City’s premier landmark destination. Situated at the heart of the city’s central business district, the park is surrounded by prominent buildings including the Old City Hall, the Iriga City Plaza Hotel and Convention, Saint Anthony of Padua Church, La Consolacion College, and various commercial establishments. The park, which is the city’s recreational space and venue for various events and festivals, is set to be redeveloped into a greener space for Iriganons.
The park’s redevelopment is divided into three phases. The first two phases of the project included the remodeling of the central plaza by installing an interactive dry fountain, installing benches lined with wood plastic composite, and establishing better drainage. Converting the unused dilapidated fountain basin into a dry deck fountain provides a flexible space for users.
Phase 3 of the project included the allocation of outdoor spaces for play and exercise. This was done through the provision of play and open lawn areas lined with native planting and shade trees.
The transformation of the park into a more inclusive and green environment provides locals with a vibrant and relaxing space that will also encourage tourism and business investments to the city.
